Panic attack chest pain. Should you be concerned?
Many people are concerned about the state of their heart and at some point can even experience panic attack chest pain. It goes without saying, that in the case of unusual symptoms in the chest or heart one needs to be carefully examined. Heart diseases are almost always associated with changes in electrical impulses produced by the heart, which can be easily detected by ECG. In case of panic attacks, the only change, that ECG shows – is a slight increase in a heart rate.

What is the difference between panic attack chest pain and heart attack chest pain?
Let’s look at the symptoms of heart attack and what makes them different from panic attack manifestations. The main symptoms of heart attack are the shortness of breath, chest pain, occasional bouts of heart palpitations and loss of consciousness.
These symptoms are generally related to the physical activity capacity. That is, with more heavy exercise load the symptoms become stronger, the less load – the weaker are the manifestations. Symptoms usually disappear quickly after some relaxation. This is the main difference from the symptoms of panic attacks.
Panic attack symptoms
During the episodes of palpitation the heart suddenly begins to beat rapidly for a short period of time. If a person has increased perception, it may be the warning sign since there is a fear of sudden heart attack. Hence, it is clear why so many people in such situations jump to conclusions and seek medical help.
You should be aware, that occasional bouts of palpitation are quite natural and often can be provoked by overwork or stimulants, such as caffeine.
Another term for ectopic heartbeat – is extrasystole. Ectopic heartbeat actually is an extraordinary contraction of the heart between two normal beats. During a pause the lower half of the heart can be filled with larger than usual amount of blood, so the next heartbeat is felt as a forceful beat. And this feeling makes people freeze with horror and wait until it becomes clear what is going on.
These irregular heartbeats are generally harmless. When you feel them, try to sit down, but if you want you may keep on moving. Physical activity will not cause a deterioration of the situation.

- Go through a full medical examination. When you get a confirmation that you are healthy, take these results and do not doubt in them.
- Remember, that your body is remarkably clever. If you fall into panic, it does not mean that it will listen to your fears.
- Let your heart beat in the rhythm that is appropriate to your organism. Do not try to control the natural rhythms of your body. The more you allow your body to function the way it wants, the sooner it will return to the rest state.
Often your heart beats faster just to make more frequent or strong beats. Your brain only intervenes and brings the panic, which causes a burst of adrenaline and the cycle of palpitations continues. So take it easy and keep healthy!
